Baptisms
Baptism and christening
A welcome into the family of the church
Baptism, which many people call a christening, is a service of welcome. In it we give thanks to God for a life, we promise to help that person grow in faith, and the church receives them as one of its own.
We are glad to baptise babies and children, and adults too. You do not have to be a regular churchgoer to ask, and there is no charge.
How it works
- Get in touch, and someone will arrange to come and see you
- Together you will choose a date and talk through the service
- The baptism takes place during Sunday morning worship, so that the whole congregation can share the welcome
- Godparents or supporting friends are very welcome, and you are welcome to take photographs
Thinking about it for yourself
Adults are baptised in our churches too, and it is never too late. If you are exploring faith and wondering what the next step might be, we would love to talk with you. There is no pressure and no hurry.
Ready to ask? Please contact us and we will be in touch.
Can we help?
Whether you are looking for a church, arranging a baptism, a wedding or a funeral, or simply want to talk to someone, we would be glad to hear from you.
