Kessingland Methodist Church
About Kessingland Methodist Church
Kessingland Methodist Church is a warm, welcoming and prayerful church at the heart of the village, seeking to share the love of Jesus Christ within the local community and beyond. Although a relatively small congregation, the church has a big heart and is committed to ensuring that everyone who comes through its doors experiences friendship, acceptance and God's love. As part of the Methodist Church, it seeks to worship wholeheartedly, grow in faith, care for one another and serve the community with compassion, hope and joy.
Worship at Kessingland is Christ centred, joyful and accessible to all ages. Services combine traditional hymns and modern worship songs, often encouraging participation through interactive All Age Worship. Prayer is central to church life, supported by a weekly online prayer group, Lent study groups and participation in the World Day of Prayer.
Community engagement is at the heart of the church's mission. Regular activities include a weekly Community Coffee Morning, family quiz nights, bingo evenings, church lunches, plant sales, book sales and a popular Christmas Bazaar. The church also hosts local organisations including the Community Players, craft groups and the Women's Institute. Throughout the year, special events such as Harvest Festival, Christingle, Christmas Nativity and Church Anniversary celebrations help bring together church members, families and the wider community.
The modern church building provides an accessible and welcoming space for worship and community activities, with step free access, an accessible toilet, hearing loop, baby changing facilities, kitchen facilities and on-site parking. Services are also shared via Zoom, enabling those unable to attend in person to remain connected with the worshipping community.
As Kessingland continues to grow through new housing developments and population growth, the church sees exciting opportunities for outreach and mission, and remains committed to caring for God's creation through recycling, planting projects and other green initiatives.
